October 25, 2021: The Navajo Nation Supreme Court, the Window Rock District Court and the Administrative Office of the Courts are resuming essential services operations from their building in Window Rock, Ariz., as of October 25, 2021. As a reminder, essential services are being provided by the courts and programs of the Judicial Branch but all judicial facilities are closed to the public. See public service announcement.

October 22, 2021
: The Navajo Nation Supreme Court is closed beginning Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 4:20 p.m. until further notice. Read public service announcement.

December 7, 2020: The Navajo Nation Supreme Court is operating from an alternate facility from December 8 through December 10, 2020. The Court will continue to perform essential services. The Supreme Court will not be taking telephone calls during this short period. The Supreme Court can be contacted by email at nnsupremecourt@navajo-nsn.gov. Telephone messages left at the Supreme Court phone number at (928) 871-6763 will not be checked until December 11, 2020.

December 4, 2020: The Supreme Court of the Navajo Nation is closed Friday, December 4, 2020, and Monday, December 7, 2020.

April 9, 2020: Filings to the Supreme Court are best received by fax to: 928-871-7016.  Thanks for your support in our efforts to keep everyone safe.

March 25, 2020: In response to the evolving situation with the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Supreme Court of the Navajo Nation suspended pleading and filing requirements to allow parties to temporarily file court documents by Email and Fax during this public health state of emergency, beginning 8:00 a.m., March 25, 2020, until further notice.

The requirement for filing Notices of Appeals and Petitions for Extraordinary Writs is two-part.  (1) Parties may file Notices of Appeal and Petitions for Extraordinary Writs by Email, to nnsupremecourt@navajo-nsn.gov,  and (2) Parties filing MUST mail (by US postal mail only, certified return receipt recommended) the $60 filing fee by Money Order (no checks please) on that same day the appeal or petition is filed by email or fax.  The date of filing by email or fax and the date postmarked on the envelope (bearing the Money Order) must bear the same date for this Court to consider the appeal.

Money orders payable to the Navajo Nation Supreme Court must be sent to Supreme Court of the Navajo Nation, PO Box 1779, Window Rock, Arizona 86515.  No UPS or FedEx mailings will be accepted to minimize personal contact.

For the filing of other pleadings in existing cases, i.e., motions and briefs, you may also submit by Email or Fax, or continue to submit by U.S. mail.  In-person filings will NOT be available during the period specified above.
